This is an interesting video from Good Morning America. Apparently it is okay to be overweight, eventhough it may reduce your life span. Yo-yo dieting is definitely a problem in today’s society due to the sensationalism behind looking unrealistically thin, and doing it at warp speed. In an effort to look like the celebrities they see through all forms of main-stream media channels throughout the world, both women and men are starving themselves and essentially damaging their bodies.

Good Morning America Interview: Marianne Kirby and Gabrielle Gregg
Marianne Kirby and Gabrielle Gregg are a part of a movement, called “The Fat Acceptance Movement”, that passionately promotes the philosophy that your size doesn’t exclusively determine your health or even your self-worth. These women claim that since they abandoned their weight loss efforts, they feel happier and surprisingly healthier. Gabrielle actually admits to her hair falling out and being very sickly while she was dieting. This is common among individuals who reduce their calories too drastically and choose nutrient-deficient foods to nourish their bodies. While no one may argue against the idea that your self-esteem should not be based on your size, it is a medical fact that being overweight increases your risks for a slew of health problems, including heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, and even cancer. Could these women be on to something that could revolutionize the way we embrace ourselves, or is this pure propaganda? Watch the video and judge for yourself.repsfbxcontinuous
