For those of you who hate the gym, can’t afford a gym membership (times are hard), or who just want to supplement your regular workouts with some things you can do at home, you need dvd’s that will be great for sculpting the body and blasting away the fat.  Here are some of our recommendations that will show you how to lose the fat and gain some calorie revving muscle:

Walk Away the Pounds:  Walk and Kick
Leslie Sansone’s videos are some of the best for adding cardio to your routine.  They are simple, yet effective.  If you struggle with coordination, never fear Mrs. Sansone is here.  With her videos, you work your body instead of working your brain trying to figure out what move comes next - she sticks to the same basic moves and cues you for each move.  All of her videos are great but this one is especially good because it introduces you to some of the methods of kickboxing that are great for melting away fat.  The kicking adds intensity to the walking and causes your heart rate to go up pretty fast.  She takes you through walking forward and back, knee lifts, side steps, front and back kicks, and some great upper body movements.  Your abs will also get a workout because of the way you twist your mid-section during some of the moves.  Overall, this is a great cardio workout for beginners to intermediate.  It will definitely help you lose the stubborn fat in your mid-section, lower body, and your arms. If you are more advanced, you can substitute the walking segments for jogging and speed it up a bit. You can even add some hand and ankle weights.

The Biggest Loser:  Power Sculpt
This dvd is great if you want to get stellar results working out at home.  It will help you lose lots of fat, gain muscle, and change the shape of your body pretty quickly. It provides three different workouts -one for 20 minutes at level 1, one for 10 minutes at level 2, and another one for 10 minutes at level 3.  You can view them individually or you can create your workout by combining them.  Level 1 is easy enough for beginners, but Body Sculpt Reviewit will still challenge those that are more advanced.  The key is the amount of weight you use.  For those just starting out, you need to focus on perfecting form before you worry about the number of reps you do and how heavy your weight is.  The dvd starts out with a nice warm-up and then jumps right into the workout.  The first 20 minute workout is with Jillian Michaels, one of the trainers from the t.v. series (she’s so sweet).  Each move works more than one muscle group at time, which allows you to get a more intense workout in a shorter period of time.  It is actually a combo of weights and mild cardio that keeps your heart rate up.  The only issue with this dvd is that sometimes the movements can be so quick that if you blink, you might get confused. Nevertheless, it’s still an awesome dvd for working out at home.  If you concentrate on having the right form, you’ll definitely see some quick
results.
